Our Roots

One of the reasons RDO Equipment Co. understands the equipment business is because the company was founded by a man who spent hours in the field, worked the land, and managed a fleet of equipment.

Potato farmer, Ronald D. Offutt, was working alongside his father in Moorhead, Minnesota when he purchased his first equipment dealership. That first store in Casselton, North Dakota set the stage for what would become RDO Equipment Co. Read more about Ron’s story and the roots of RDO.

How We Grew

Founded in 1968, RDO Equipment Co. sells and supports intelligently connected agriculture, construction, environmental, irrigation, positioning, and surveying equipment from leading manufacturers, including John Deere, Vermeer, and Topcon. With more than 80 locations across the U.S. and partnerships in Africa, Australia, Mexico and Ukraine, we deliver creative solutions so our customers can grow and build the world.

While our foundation may be built on John Deere agriculture equipment, our expertise extends into construction, environmental, forestry, irrigation, roadbuilding, underground, and several types of machine technology from partners including Vermeer, WIRTGEN GROUP, Topcon, and Carlson.

Both new and used equipment are offered, along with rental options and the latest in machine technology. All equipment and technology are backed with parts, service, and full support.

Who We Are

Our greatest asset is our people. Because of their passion, knowledge, and expertise, those same people are determined to be an asset to every RDO stakeholder.

In addition to more than 2,700 team members who serve customers every day in more than 75 locations across the country, we employ nearly 375 people at our Field Support Office (FSO) in Fargo, North Dakota.

Completed in 2021, the FSO is a workspace unlike any other workspace in Fargo or the surrounding area. It brings together the RDO Equipment Co. team members who support our stores with non-facing, yet crucial, customer functions like Accounting, Human Resources, Learning and Development, and Safety.

The FSO is not a corporate office. It is a Field Support Office, as the name accurately reflects what the team there does: supports the field.
